The Best Time to Visit Maldives
The Maldives Islands feature some amazing weather conditions, where the temperatures rarely go below 25 degrees – just one more attribute adding to the appeal of a vacation spent exploring the many Islands of the Maldives.
The best times for visiting the Maldives Islands and atolls are said to be between the months November and April because even though there will be an occasional rainfall in these months, the island is quieter and prices are better – surfers can also enjoy the best waves at this time of the year, and the sea life is more diverse among the reefs and corals.
The Maldives boasts a tropical monsoon climate and has two dominating seasons which are the dry season, associated with the dry northeast winter monsoons and then the wet season, associated with the humid and moist southwest monsoons and strong wind and storm conditions. The dry season is typically more appealing to tourists who want to enjoy long hot days on the beaches of the various atolls and islands that form part of the Maldives, however the wet season attracts more sharks like that of the hammerhead and reef shark species to congregate, sometimes even in the shallower parts of the water.
The months from January to April offer holiday guests longer days and great weather for swimming and sunbathing, with over 9 hours of sunshine per day, however the rates on the island are at their peak during these months and the sea life is less plentiful. From the months of May onwards, the hours of sunshine each day become less and between June and August there are only about 7 hours of sunshine each day.
